Old Bay Seasoning

 Old Bay Seasoning Seasoning
RECIPE FINDER: Old Bay Hot Crab Meat

Jane Raley of Lutherville, Md., was looking for a recipe for a crab dip similar to the one she enjoyed so much that was served at the now-closed Jasper's restaurant in Pikesville, Md.. She says it was the best crab dip she had ever had.

Harriett Heyman of Baltimore found three different crab-dip recipes in her collection. She says she has made all three numerous times and would recommend any one of them.

I tested the one that sounded the most classic to me. It is a luscious concoction made with fresh lump crab meat and flavored primarily with Old Bay seasoning. If fresh crab meat is not available where you live, pasteurized could be substituted, but I would recommend adding a tablespoon or so of fresh lemon juice.

This dip is best served warm and paired with crackers, chips or raw vegetables.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Joel Ortiz Off Aftermath? Is Bow Wow Crazy? Amy ...

Wow Bow doesn't have to do this. He doesn't. He can still make his name Bow Wow again. The rumor is that he got pissed off at Chris Brown and spit on his R&B counterpart. That's word to Omarion! Anyway apparently at a show in Dallas, Wow Bow ended his set off and accused Brown of messing up his set. How? I'm not sure how. Chris Brown is the headliner of the show, but I don't know what he did. Anyway, Wow Bow had to be restrained and out came the spit. I know this is only a rumor, but I have to ask: IS WOW BOW CRAZY?

Now that I got a good laugh out of that, you should know that Wow Bow has stated on the record that this never happened. Chris Brown hasn't issued any denial.

OBAMA HAS A SHOT!

OK, I know one doesn't have anything to do with the other, but I thought I would say this anyway.

Island favorites in heart-healthy new ways

This recipe substitutes tofu for chicken and cuts back on the oil but retains the characteristic flavor. Note the tofu simmering technique in the first step; tofu prepared this way can be used in place of meats in many recipes, including stir-fries.

COLD GINGER TOFU

1 (20-ounce) block firm tofu (preferably Mrs. Cheng's), drained and patted dry

1 to 2 teaspoons salt

4 whole star anise

1 small piece crushed ginger

1 tablespoon light vegetable oil (canola, safflower)

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons peeled, minced fresh ginger

1/2 teaspoon minced garlic

1/4 cup minced green onions

1/4 cup minced Chinese parsley

1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (optional)

Cut tofu in half horizontally, then cut each half into four equal pieces.

Winehouse's success linked more to music than notoriety

The more they go through, the more people can connect with them, because they start to realize that they aren't perfect: 'They're just like me.' So it really helps you sometimes," said Akon, who maintained his popularity despite public relations crises of his own last year, including charges he threw a fan off a stage during a concert.

"Especially with Amy there's a thousand teenage kids going through what she's going through right now, so they really can literally identify with her," Akon said. "Music hits you in the soul."

Winehouse, 24, goes into the Grammy ceremony with six nominations, including nods in the key categories of record, song, album of the year and best new artist. The CD has sold an impressive 1.5 million copies in the United States alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

TV Eye

But don't expect to turn on the set and see brand-new shows immediately. Shows like Heroes (NBC), which relies heavily on post-production special effects, may not resume until much later in the year, perhaps till the next TV season – whenever that is. The way of doing TV was changing long before the strike began. The strike hastened the inevitable, which I believe will be a marker in TV history.

Fox's 24, with more than half of its episodes broadcast-ready, was shelved until the strike passed. However, sources indicate it may not air until next year (I suspect a January launch, following the next American Idol, as in years past). Until then, keep a lookout for TV from our neighbors to the north. NBC has already acquired The Listener, about a psychic paramedic, while CBS, ABC, and ABC Family are also considering Canadian-made series.
